In August 2006, Sovereign Signs completed the exterior of a £10m retail development in the centre of Glasgow.
The company played a central role in this challenging task, which entailed the re-development of a totally burnt-out building. The Sovereign team was invited by Blenheim House Construction to bring their expertise and reliability to the project, having already demonstrated their value in previous collaborations.
The elements added by Sovereign to the façade of the building are a unique combination of bespoke engineering advances, functionality, and an aesthetic delight for passers-by. All eleven canopies were produced from 11m Alucobond sheets, the rolling of which was a challenge in its own right, and another one the Sovereign team rose up to. Complete with a notable rooftop feature by Sovereign, Jamaica Street has brought architectural and design excellence to today’s hectic city street.
Sovereign put the finishing touches to the retail centre in perfect time for the September launch date of the Jamaica Street retail centre. The unique exterior will greatly complement the shopping experience inside: the building is to house some of the biggest high street names, much to the delight of residents and visitors to Glasgow.
