In 2005, Kingston Retail Park, a top shopping destination in our home town of Hull, launched a major refurbishment programme. Sovereign put in an innovative proposal for a gantry sign design, and ultimately won the scheme.
The signs at Kingston Retail Park have since become a landmark in Hull’s cityscape and Sovereign’s most acclaimed local project. The signage was designed entirely in-house and was given the bold, contemporary and impactful look the location needed.
To manufacture these unconventional structures, the Sovereign team used glass-reinforced plastic mouldings. Each sign is 13m high and is reinforced by steel. The signs also incorporate moulded text and LEDs for maximum visual effect, and the end result received excellent feedback from all stakeholders.
In addition, Sovereign manufactured and installed steel and GRP features at the site.
Stadium Developments, a top UK retail property developer, have since made use of Sovereign’s services on a number of high-profile projects nationwide (see Stadium Developments: Park Llandudno). They commented on Sovereign’s work at Kingston Retail Park:
“The signs reflect the design detail, care and attention at the production stage and the professionalism of Sovereign Corporate Imaging. We are very pleased with the aesthetic and the architectural impact of the finished signage, which is certainly the best we have implemented to date in the UK.”
As to the tenants, the fact that a number of them invited the Sovereign team to work on their on-site signage speaks for itself. As a result, Sovereign has supplied signage to the likes of HMV, Bhs, Allied Carpets and Boots.
